  1. This is an interesting idea for a blog, and I commend you for the work you've invested, first in posting these images, and further in your generosity in leaving it online after you chose to discontinue it.

I'm a little concerned about the copyright issue, however. While you are legally able to copyright your blog, simply digitizing photographs is not considered to be transformative, so the public domain photographs you have reproduced here remain in the public domain. Although we can buy or sell the copyrights to creative works, those that are in the public domain remain there, allowing anyone to copy them for any purpose.

I realize how incredibly copyright issues are; this article may help make it a little clearer. http://laurelrusswurm.wordpress.com/2012/10/10/owning-a-copy-does-not-confer-copyright/

  2. You are correct. The photo is in the public domain, my commentary is copyrighted. I have spoken on my main blog many times about what is, and what isn't copyrightable (is that a word?)
